  • All Around Fitness

    All Around Fitness is for everyone. Sessions feature exercise techniques for older adults, including strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, balance and flexibility. Work at your own pace and receive personal attention from a trained instructor. This is a hybrid class. Should you choose to participate virtually you can find the Zoom in your confirmation notes. In accordance with City of Saint Paul Executive Order 2021-33 (https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/emergency-management/coronavirus-covid-19/emergency-executive-orders#August%203,%202021-33), all individuals regardless of vaccine status must wear a face covering at all times when inside City-Controlled Property, unless they have a qualifying exemption.     Condition and tone your body with Pilates! Controlled mat exercises create strength, stability and suppleness in the spine while improving abdominal and back strength, posture and balance. Pilates provides stress reduction while enhancing injury prevention. Bring a blanket and mat. This class is being offered using the Zoom online platform.     For all students at any level looking to explore Iyengar yoga. Bring two blankets, a yoga mat and belt. Wear loose clothing and please keep perfume / scented lotion usage to a minimum. Canceled classes will not be rescheduled.
  • Intermediate Gentle Hatha Yoga: Iyengar Yoga Level II -Online Course

    Explore the introductory poses in greater depth and focus on breathing practices. It is recommended that students taking this course have six months prior experience with Iyengar Yoga. Students will need to bring their own props - a yoga mat, belt, three blankets and a chair. This class is being offered using the Zoom online platform. Each class consists of three segments: Standing Chi Kung, Seated Chi Kung and the practice of T'ai Chi forms. Please bring your own mat. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program. SPPS currently requires masks for all people in a school setting (ages 2 and older), including all teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, unless they have a qualifying exemption.   • T'ai Chi Ch'uan Advanced Class

    T'ai Chi Ch'uan offers significant health benefits including low-impact exercise, relaxation, stress management, flexibility, serenity and balance. The advanced class consists of refining the practice of T'ai Chi forms and learning and improving teaching methods. Prerequisite: Students must demonstrate mastery of the Cheng Man Ching Short Form before registering and instructor's permission All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program.     T'ai Chi Chih is a series of slow movements that form a moving meditation. The movements work to circulate chi (energy) throughout the body for health and well-being. Benefits can include stress reduction, improved balance, a better immune system and increased calmness. Wear comfortable layered clothing. This class is being offered using the Zoom online platform.     Build brainpower, bone mass and balance while exploring the art and culture of American Tap Dance. This is a low impact dance class offered in partnership with Keane Sense of Rhythm (KSR). Tap shoes are fun, but optional.
