All Abilities Dancing: Hip-Hop
Grades 1-5. Youth living with and without disabilities will have the opportunity to express themselves through movement in a supportive, community-minded environment. You will find your voice and style through the lens of Hip Hop, gaining skills through technique and confidence in freestyling. Dancers will explore a breadth of styles (breaking, popping, locking, house) and get a glimpse into the history of the genre and its evolution. This high-energy class centers positive body awareness, creativity, teamwork, motor coordination, and personal expression. Community Ed is not able to provide PCA level care or 1 on 1 assistance. If your dancer needs this type of care, adults and caregivers are more than welcome to join the class. Books Don’t Have to Be Flat!
Grades K-5. Get ready to love and appreciate books in a whole new way! We’ll make books that unfold like maps, books out of coffee filters, and books that scroll around sticks. We’ll make books in boxes, books in cans, and accordion books with secret pockets. We’ll have fun deciding what stories to share, illustrating them, and then choosing the best kind of book to do the job. Grades K-5. Exercise your strategic mind! Board games exist in many cultures to compete, build community and develop strategic thinking. Put your skills to the test in the latest multi-player tabletop games. Play everything from Settlers of Catan to Exploding Kitten. Develop your skills with friends and work together to create your own games to challenge others. CAHOOTS: Entering 1-6
Cahoots is a summer program, designed to support learning and reflection skills. Memorable characters--Hoots, Boots, Marina, Stevie and Walter--guide your child through a self-paced review of the school year. Their Reflection Buddy provides encouragement and responses to your child's work. When registering, families are encouraged to order the grade level their child will enter in the Fall. Materials are available for youth entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. When you enroll in Cahoots, your child will receive: A fun, 8-lesson workbook to help review Math and Language Arts material from the school year. Weekly reflections and a reflection buddy. A game board and game piece to track progress. A completion prize. Grades K-5. There’s no better way to get a jump on spring than with our creative and fun Young Rembrandts cartoon class. Your heart will smile when you see the cute and cuddly creatures. You will draw baby animals, funny frogs and dogs’ sequences. Who knew that our food was so silly, we will be drawing up ice cream characters and lively lunches. And it doesn’t stop there; our lively cartoon class is packed with hilarious and silly characters and scenes you won’t want to miss! Chinese Dance
Grades K-5. Jumping, spinning, and flipping are the three fundamental skills of Chinese dance which are inherited from opera and martial arts. A magnificent and inexhaustible treasure, and an important window to display Chinese culture and art. Curling (Adult + Child)
One adult and one child pair, ages 8-17. Register for the class under the name of the child attending. Curling is an Olympic sport in which two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding polished granite stones on a sheet of ice towards a circular target or “house.” Participants need to bring warm, flexible clothing (sweaters, hats, gloves, warm socks, etc.) and clean athletic shoes with non-slip rubber soles. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian at the classes. Do YOU Want to Be a Writer? (Adult + Child)
One adult and one child pair, grades 4-6. Writers create magic with words and spin stories from their imaginations. Write, read, share, and write some more, as you learn how to make writing exciting and fun. Use prompts and exercises to stretch your creativity and turn your words into stories and poems. Bring your best ideas, turn them loose on the page, and let your writing surprise you. Driver Education
The Basics: Students must be 15 years of age by the first day of class. • Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course. • Course consists of State-required 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel lessons. • Students are required to attend all 30 consecutive hours of classroom instruction. The classroom prepares students for the written permit test. After successful completion of classroom instruction, students receive their Blue Card and have 18 months to obtain a driver’s permit and complete the behind-the-wheel portion of the program. • Students are required to have their permit for six months, complete six hours of behind-the-wheel lessons, complete and log 40-50 hours of supervised driving, and be 16 years of age before they are eligible to take the road test for a driver's license. • Refunds, minus a $75 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for cancellation. Refunds minus a $50 fee will be issued upon request for cancellation. Refunds will not be issued once the classroom course has ended. MN State Law requires instructors to be able to see you and hear you during online classes. Make sure your device has both a camera and microphone. 1-2 business days before your class, you will receive an email with your online meeting information. Please see your “Class Confirmation” email for more information on joining meetings. Fee: $385 Payment plans: 1) Full payment at time of registration 2) $192.50 at time of registration and remaining $192.50 payment will automatically be charged to your credit card on the 6th scheduled day of the student's Driver Education Course. Registration Notes: Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course. When creating your account, parent/guardian should create their own account and add their student to the parent/guardian's account. Courses Cancellation Fees: Refunds, minus a $75 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for the course. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. Student is required by MN State law to attend all class sessions in entirety. Only if an extenuating circumstance arises, may student miss up to 3 hours (1 class period) but missed class time must be made up within the quarter. If student misses more than 3 hours (1 class period), for any reason, student will be un-enrolled from the class, charged a $75 cancellation fee, and will not receive credit for class time. -
Driver Education with A+ Driving School
A+ Driving School Registration Requirements Please read thoroughly as A+ requires additional agreements. 1. This contract expires 2 years from the first day of classroom training or when the student turns 18, whichever occurs first. All classes and BTW lessons must be completed before the expiration date. Any refund must be requested in writing before the expiration date. 2. The first BTW lesson must be completed within the first four months from the date the student received their permit. 3. You can only schedule 1 BTW lesson at a time and the student should practice for at least 1 month between lessons. 4. This agreement constitutes the entire contract between the school and the student/parent. No verbal statements or promises will be recognized. Grades 2-5. Get pumped and primed for the year end in-class tournament.
