1/2 Day Nature-based Pre-K
Join the legendary Cemetery Walking Tour, visiting various cemeteries and discovering the history of early Saint Paul and the men and women who made it happen. Transportation between locations is on your own.
Tour Activity Rating: 4 (Demanding - extensive walking/climbing/standing)
First Day: Meet at the East Gate of Calvary Cemetery, 753 Front Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55103. (the open gate on Front Street)
Second Day: Meet at Oakland Cemetery, 927 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, MN 55117. (Meet in the parking lot by the office at Oakland Cemetery)
Third Day: Meet at Oakland Cemetery, 927 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, MN 55117. (Meet in the parking lot by the office at Oakland Cemetery). For opening remarks on the Jewish Cemetery before visiting other locations - transportation is on your own.
*Note: There are no restrooms available during all 3 sessions of this tour.
*Please note there will be walking on both flat and uneven terrain each night, with few places to sit.
*Only participants listed on tour roster may attend the tour.
Mary-Benton Hummel, seriously over-educated with six college degrees and working on a seventh, has been teaching with Community Education since 1980. Best known for her Cemetery Walking Tour, she also offers a smorgasbord of classes in other areas such as knitting, letterpress printing, basketry, and pop-up cards. She loves to teach, sharing anything she knows on almost any subject, and enjoys watching the toads that have taken residence in one of her window wells.
