1/2 Day Nature-based Pre-K
Paint two 7” x 15” watercolor paintings focusing on red flowers. Similar techniques and processes allow paintings to be displayed as a duo. Step-by step-instruction helps beginner and experienced painters to complete successful paintings. This class has a supply list to purchase before class. List is in the confirmation email and below.
Supplies to Purchase:
One half sheet (15” x 22”) of Arches 140 lb. cold press bright white watercolor paper, to make two 15” x 7” paintings
Your usual painting supplies which should include 2 water containers, paper towels, pop up tissues, a fine mist spray bottle for water.
Brushes: You may use your regular watercolor brushes. I use Scharff 960 Aqua Flow Super Round, Scharff #310 White Nylon round brushes sizes #8 and #4, and a variety of scrubby brushes (Scharff Moon #222 brushes sizes #2, #4, #6, used for corrections and lifting off paint.) I will have Scharff brushes for purchase if you choose.
Pencil and ruler
A board to support your painting is helpful but not necessary.
Light Box to trace line drawing if you have one.
Professional Artist watercolor. I use Mission Gold . The colors used are Indian Yellow, Light Red, Permanent Red, Scarlet Lake, Olive Green, Ultramarine Blue Deep
Carol Spohn is a watercolor/mixed media artist and instructor from Saint Paul Minnesota where she lives with her husband Cozzie and two cats. Carol recently retired to be a full time artist and instructor. Carol enjoys teaching others to paint even more than she loves painting. Her step by step methods enables each student to be successful in creating art. She is a popular instructor at painting conventions and art retreats, sharing her joy of painting with students throughout the country.
Carol believes everyone has a creative spirit and her classes are a perfect opportunity to learn techniques enabling students to nurture their skills. Her philosophy is to embrace the joy and not make art so hard. Make one decision at a time and see where that leads you. Students of all levels will be successful.
