Hike through and hear about the land and the history of Saint Paul’s West Side Cherokee Park. See the Mississippi River from various lookout points. Bring binoculars to observe the birds. There will be some moderate hiking through the woods, so good walking or hiking shoes are suggested. Walk is approximately 2.8 miles on uneven terrain. There will be few, if any, places to sit. Unearth Minnesota history while trekking through the city of Mendota. Learn about the geological history of the land, the abundant wildlife, and the various people who have called it home. Take in sites including St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Sibley Historic Site, and the main street buildings of Mendota. Tour covers approximately 1.5 - 2 miles. Wear good hiking shoes as the banks of the river can be muddy.
