    Cahoots is a summer program, designed to support learning and reflection skills. Memorable characters--Hoots, Boots, Marina, Stevie and Walter--guide your child through a self-paced review of the school year. Their Reflection Buddy provides encouragement and responses to your child's work. When registering, families are encouraged to order the grade level their child will enter in the Fall. Materials are available for youth entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. When you enroll in Cahoots, your child will receive: A fun, 8-lesson workbook to help review Math and Language Arts material from the school year. Weekly reflections and a reflection buddy. A game board and game piece to track progress. A completion prize. Sliding Fee: Our sliding scale model for program pricing ensures that our high-quality enrichment classes are more accessible to our community members. We encourage participants to choose the price that they are able to pay. This structure helps our programs be financially sustainable and more equitable.

    Caring for the ECFE Garden

    Families with children ages Birth - Kindergarten are invited to come play and assist in caring for the new Wheelock Garden. Meet in the outside garden space at the back of the building. Registration here is Optional, however you will be asked to sign in when you participate. There is no fee and no commitment to attend every week.

    Experience the legendary Cemetery Walking Tour, visiting various cemeteries and discovering the history of early Saint Paul and the men and women who made it happen. Transportation between locations is on your own. Tour Activity Rating: 4 (Demanding - extensive walking/stairs/standing) First Night: Meet at the East Gate of Calvary Cemetery, 753 Front Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55103. (the open gate on Front Street) Second Night: Meet at Oakland Cemetery, 927 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, MN 55117. (Meet in the parking lot by the office at Oakland Cemetery) Third Night: Meet at Temple Mount Zion Cemetery, 1670 Payne Avenue, St Paul, MN 55117. (NE corner of Payne and Larpenteur) We will visit other locations this night as well - transportation is on your own. *Please note there will be walking on both flat and uneven terrain each night, with few places to sit. * *Only participants listed on tour roster may attend the tour.

    Walk the West Side’s District Del Sol, including Cesar Chavez Avenue, Wellstone Center, and El Burrito Mercado. Murals, art and rich aromas galore! Learn about the waves of immigrants who shaped the community. Stay for an optional lunch at El Burrito Mercado. Tour covers approximately 2.5 miles. Lunch purchases are on your own. Activity Tour Rating of 3 (Active- able to do some steps and/or standing) Guide: B Lotterman Tour will begin from the lobby of the Wellstone Community Center - free parking available in ramp or on the street. Tour from 10:00 to 12:00 with optional lunch to follow.
  • Driver Education - Online Class + BTW

    The Basics: Students must be 15 years of age by the first day of class. Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course. See Registration Notes below. Course consists of State-required 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel lessons. The 30 hours of classroom instruction will be an online class. Students are required to attend all 30 consecutive hours of classroom instruction. The classroom prepares students for the written permit test. After successful completion of classroom instruction, students will be mailed their Blue Card and have 18 months to complete the Behind-the-Wheel portion of the program. Students are required to have their permit for six months, complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, complete and log 40-50 hours of supervised driving, and be 16 years of age before they are eligible to take the road test for a driver's license. Refunds minus a $75 fee will be issued upon request for cancellation. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. For more information about the licensing process and a full list of program procedures, visit www.spps.org/drivered. Online Course: This class is being offered using the Google Meet online platform. Before registering, make sure your device meets the minimum requirements; view minimum requirements here: https://www.spps.org/Page/28967. MN State Law requires instructors to be able to see you and hear you during the entire online class session. Students should be an a quiet location free from distraction and noise. Make sure your device has both a camera and microphone. 1-2 business days before your class, you will receive an email with your online meeting information. Please see your “Class Confirmation” email for more information on joining meetings. Fee: $385 Payment plans: 1) Full payment at time of registration 2) $192.50 at time of registration and remaining $192.50 payment will automatically be charged to your credit card on the 6th scheduled day of the student's Driver Education Course. *A sliding scale option is also available for families in need. Registration Notes: Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course When creating your account, parent/guardian should create their own account and add their student to the parent/guardian's account. Courses Cancellation Fees: 1) Refunds, minus a $75 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for the course. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. 2) Student is required by MN State law to attend all class sessions in entirety. Only if an extenuating circumstance arises, may student miss up to 3 hours (1 class period) but missed class time must be made up within the quarter. If student does not attend make-up class, student will have missed more than 3 hours (1 class period). If student misses more than 3 hours (1 class period), for any reason, student will be un-enrolled from the class, charged a $75 cancellation fee, and will not receive credit for class time.
