Additionally, Discovery Club staff connect with school-day teachers to better support children's learning, including time for homework. Discovery Club is a fee-based program administered by the Community Education Department of Saint Paul Public Schools.

  • District del Sol Walking Tour

    Walk the West Side’s District Del Sol, including Cesar Chavez Avenue, Wellstone Center, and El Burrito Mercado. Murals, art and rich aromas galore! Learn about the waves of immigrants who shaped the community. Stay for an optional lunch at El Burrito Mercado. Tour covers approximately 2.5 miles. Lunch purchases are on your own. Activity Tour Rating of 3 (Active- able to do some steps and/or standing) Guide: B Lotterman Tour will begin from the lobby of the Wellstone Community Center - free parking available in ramp or on the street.   • Driver Education - Online Class + BTW

    The Basics: Students must be 15 years of age by the first day of class. Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course. See Registration Notes below. Course consists of State-required 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel lessons. The 30 hours of classroom instruction will be an online class. Students are required to attend all 30 consecutive hours of classroom instruction. The classroom prepares students for the written permit test. After successful completion of classroom instruction, students will be mailed their Blue Card and have 18 months to complete the Behind-the-Wheel portion of the program. Students are required to have their permit for six months, complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, complete and log 40-50 hours of supervised driving, and be 16 years of age before they are eligible to take the road test for a driver's license. Refunds minus a $75 fee will be issued upon request for cancellation. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. MN State Law requires instructors to be able to see you and hear you during the entire online class session. Students should be an a quiet location free from distraction and noise. Make sure your device has both a camera and microphone. 1-2 business days before your class, you will receive an email with your online meeting information. Fee: $385 Payment plans: 1) Full payment at time of registration 2) $192.50 at time of registration and remaining $192.50 payment will automatically be charged to your credit card on the 6th scheduled day of the student's Driver Education Course. *A sliding scale option is also available for families in need. Registration Notes: Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course When creating your account, parent/guardian should create their own account and add their student to the parent/guardian's account. Courses Cancellation Fees: 1) Refunds, minus a $75 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for the course. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. 2) Student is required by MN State law to attend all class sessions in entirety. Only if an extenuating circumstance arises, may student miss up to 3 hours (1 class period) but missed class time must be made up within the quarter. If student does not attend make-up class, student will have missed more than 3 hours (1 class period). If student misses more than 3 hours (1 class period), for any reason, student will be un-enrolled from the class, charged a $75 cancellation fee, and will not receive credit for class time.

  • Early Childhood Family Education

    Saint Paul Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) offers parent and early childhood education for families with children between birth and kindergarten age. ECFE is based on the idea that the family provides a child's first and most important learning environment, and parents are a child's first and most significant teachers. ECFE works to strengthen families and enhance the ability of all parents to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. A typical ECFE class consists of three learning sections: - Together Time: ECFE most often begins with parent/child activities in the children’s classroom. - Parents' Time: Parents then separate from their children and join together for a discussion group facilitated by a Parent Educator. - Childrens' Time: While the parents are in discussion, children continue to participate in activities facilitated by an Early Childhood Teacher.

    Create your own charcuterie board by pouring colorful epoxy into pre-cut boards made with black walnut and other various hardwoods. Choose up to 2 colors of epoxy when you arrive. One project per person, all supplies included. Finished boards are ready for pick up two weeks after class.
