  • Driver Education - Online Class + Behind-the-Wheel

    The Basics: Get ready to hit the road with SPPS Community Education! This comprehensive course, taught by highly trained licensed classroom instructors, includes 30 hours of state-required classroom instruction and 6 hours of hands-on behind-the-wheel lessons. Students must be 15 years old by the first day of class and attend all 30 hours of classroom instruction consecutively to best prepare students for the written permit test. Upon completing the classroom portion, students will receive an e-card email of completion and have 18 months to get their driver's permit and complete the behind-the-wheel training. To get your license, you’ll need to: hold your permit for at least 6 months, complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, log 40-50 hours of supervised driving and be 16 years old before you can take the road test. Refunds, minus a $100 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for course cancellation if requested more than three-business days prior. Online Course: This class offers an interactive online class experience facilitated by licensed Driver Education Instructors. Participants will engage in classroom discussions, breakout sessions and guest speaker activities. This class is being offered using the Google Meet online platform. Before registering, make sure your device meets the minimum requirements; view minimum requirements by clicking here. MN State Law requires instructors to be able to see you and hear you during the entire online class session. Students should be an a quiet location free from distraction and noise. Make sure your device has both a camera and microphone. 1-2 business days before your class, you will receive an email with your online meeting information. Please see your “Class Confirmation” email for more information on joining meetings. Fee: $450 Payment plans: 1) Full payment at time of registration 2) $225 at time of registration and remaining $225 payment will automatically be charged to your credit card on the 6th scheduled day of the student's Driver Education Course. Registration Notes: Parent/guardian permission is required to take the Driver Education Course When creating your account, parent/guardian should create their own account and add their student to the parent/guardian's account. Courses Cancellation Fees: 1) Refunds, minus a $100 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for the course. Refunds will not be issued if requested less than three business days prior to the class start date. 2) Students must attend all 30 hours of the Driver Education course in entirety, as required by Minnesota State law.

    The Basics: Students must be 15 years of age by the first day of class. Course consists of State-required 30 hours of classroom instruction. Students are required to attend all 30 consecutive hours of classroom instruction. The classroom prepares students for the written permit test. This class does NOT include behind-the-wheel lessons. Upon successful completion, students will receive a Letter of Completion. Should you choose to complete the behind-the-wheel portion of the Driver Education program, this letter may be presented to a driving school of your choosing to purchase behind-the-wheel lessons and to receive your E-card to take the permit test. Refunds, minus a $10 cancellation fee, will be issued upon request for cancellation. Refunds will not be issued less than 3 days before the start of the course.
