Discovery Club School Age Child Care
Where families learn & grow together.
1/2 Day Nature-based Pre-K
Discuss the joy, benefits and the challenges of keeping chickens in an urban setting. Topics will include but not be limited to: Breeds, Nutrition/Feeds, Housing, Getting Started, Welfare Issues and Bio-Security. Participants will receive a certificate that is accepted by Mpls Animal Control; a prerequisite for issuing a permit to keep chickens.

Wayne is an Iowa farm guy who moved to Minnesota, but first lived the nomadic life in Colorado, Seattle, Peace Corps in Ecuador, and finally Minneapolis. He has been on the St. Paul Campus of UMN since 1999, first with the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture, then with UMN Extension. His focus areas are smaller scale livestock production, beginning farmers, new immigrant farmers, and urban backyard chicken keepers.
