    -For children 5-10 years old. Gain confidence in the water and work on floating, gliding, kicking, and learn the basics of front crawl, back crawl, and elementary back stroke. Swimmers will be supported and assisted by the instructor for most skills. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program.   • Level 1: Fearful Swimmer

    -For children 5-10 years old who have anxiety or are fearful of the water. Gain confidence in the water and work on floating, gliding, kicking, and learn the basics of front crawl, back crawl, and elementary back stroke.     -For children 5-10 years old and have completed Level 1 or have equivalent skills. Swimmers must be comfortable in the water and will work on floating, gliding, front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Swimmers will work to complete skills without support or assistance from an instructor. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program. SPPS currently requires masks for all people in a school setting (ages 2 and older), including all teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, unless they have a qualifying exemption.     Level 3 -For children 5-11 years old and have completed Level 2 or have equivalent skills. Swimmers must be able to swim front and back crawl independently and will work to increase the distance and technique of those strokes. Other skills include elementary backstroke, scissors kick, dolphin kick, glides, and jumps into deeper water. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program.

    -For children 6-14 years old and have completed Level 3 or have equivalent skills. Swimmers must be able to swim front crawl (with rotary breathing), back crawl, and elementary backstroke and be comfortable swimming in deep water. Swimmers will further develop front and back crawl and elementary back stroke and will be introduced to sidestroke and breaststroke. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program. Other skills include butterfly, surface dives, dives, and open turns. Swimmers will work on swimming with more efficiency and power through the use of training techniques and distance swimming.   • Synchronized Swimming (Beginning)

    Participants must have swimming skills equivalent to American Red Cross Level 3. Swimmers will learn the basics of synchronized swimming which include dance and acrobatic movements on the surface and underwater and perform a basic routine at a show and possibly attend competitions.Swimmers must come with suit under clothes (will be able to change after class during cold weather). If child is not potty trained, child must wear plastic pants or swim diapers in the pool. No disposable diapers allowed. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program.     For children ages 2-4 with a parent in the water. Learn water adjustment skills and have fun in the water. If child is not potty trained, child must wear plastic pants or swim diapers in the pool. No disposable diapers allowed. Locker rooms will be available for changing out of swim attire after class. Showers will not be available. Please come prepared to swim and free of lotions, and other body and hair products. Plan to shower at home after class. Bathrooms will still be available. Swim class participants must be masked unless they are in the water. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations.     For children ages 4-5 (must be at least 4 years old by start of class). Learn beginning swimming skills and have fun in the water. Children will participate without a parent in the water.   • Waders with Parents

    For children ages 4-5 with little pool experience to prepare them for Waders (without a parent).
