Mini Camp: Beyond Pokémon
Grades 1-5. Are you crazy for Pokémon? Put your Pokémon skills to work as you create Pokémon inspired art. Work with a variety of art materials as you make your own trading cards, Pokémon balls, a Pokémon-inspired creature, and a map of its habitat. Mini Camp: Brick Builders - Varsity Builders
Entering Grade 1-5. Have you ever dreamed of launching a rocket into the sky? Learn how to build a real rocket with common materials that can be found in a recycling bin! Experiment with multiple design, building, and recovery techniques. A rocket launch time is part of the program and equipment is provided. Mini Camp: Build Your Own Folding Campfire Chair
Entering grades 4-5. Using hand tools and a variety of materials, build and decorate your very own folding Campfire Chair! An instructor from Urban Boatbuilders will guide you through the construction of this compact and portable chair, introducing you to woodworking, construction, tool use and design. Once you have built your Campfire Chair, use provided paints and finishes to customize it using design principles that you have learned. Whether you take it out to sit by a campfire or carry it around the house so you always have a seat, the folding Campfire Chair can go with you anywhere and always impress! Mini Camp: Chess N' Motion
Entering Grades 1-5. Challenge your mind and body this summer. Make your brain sweat learning and playing chess, then move your body with fun and active group games. Chess skills cover the beginner to intermediate players and group games are tailored to the interests and abilities of our group. Keep your heads and hearts active! Mini Camp: Coding
Entering Grades 1-5. Coding is the future. Code is in so many aspects of our lives that it is becoming more important for all young learners to have some exposure to code. YEL Coding classes leverage the excellent platform of Scratch® for beginning to intermediate grade school coders and Micro:Bit® for upper grade school and middle school coders. Entering Grades 1-5. Glitter and glam, we’ve got it all! Come and create awesome L.O.L. Surprise projects using clay, paint, and more every day of this exciting camp. Mini Camp: Marvelous Masters on Canvas
Entering Grades 1-5. Be inspired by art created by Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Rembrandt and Pablo Picasso in this master’s reminiscent art class. Recreate works of art like Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Monet’s Water Lilies, Rembrandt's The Mill, and many others, all on real canvas boards. Make room on your walls as you display all your own masterpieces! Mini Camp: Monsters, Creatures and Creeps
Entering grades 1-5. This drawing art workshop is mind-bendingly-creepy and laugh-out loud funny! Create amazing cartoon characters with humorous expressions and animated poses.Monsters come in all shapes, sizes and colors: big, little, furry and scaly! If you can imagine it, you can draw it. Mini Camp: Project Runway
Entering grades 4-8. Sweet summer projects! A tres-chic skirt, tie-top blouse, headband and more. No experience necessary. Students will make, showcase, and take home all their projects. Hand and machine sewing techniques are taught with SAFETY FIRST always in mind. The final day is a showcase where friends and family are invited to see the projects in action. Mini Camp: Rocket Builder Design
Entering Grade 1-5. Have you ever dreamed of launching a rocket into the sky? What about with materials you can find in your own home? Then this this is the class for you. Come learn how to build a real rocket with common materials that can be found in a recycling bin! Build it and see what happens (within the rules of model rocketry). Learn to build and launch your own rockets from common materials left over in the recycling bin where you live. We will experiment with multiple design, building, and recovery techniques. These rockets are cheap to make so it removes the anxiety of “doing it wrong”! A rocket launch time is part of the program. Launch equipment is provided. Entering Grades 4-6. Imagine—you find yourself trapped in an escape room with only 30 minutes to break free! Can you put the pieces together, crack the codes, and find the hidden key to unlock the room before it’s too late? You and your mystery-loving friends will go on a high-stakes adventure to create the ultimate escape room experience! You will learn to collaborate as you develop an original play, design ciphers, curious contraptions, and engage in theatre explorations that challenge you to think creatively. Together, you’ll share your original work with family and friends on the final day of class. Mini Camp: Ukulele Bootcamp
Ages 8-12. If you're ready to rock but don't know your strings from your tuning pegs, you've come to the right place! Regardless of musical experience, our friends from School Of Rock St. Paul will take aspiring musicians and teach them everything they need to know to be a ukulele star. We'll even end the week with a friendly performance so your rocker can feel the thrill of the stage! Best of all: you get to keep the ukulele! Preschool: Big Machines
Ages 3-5 Beep beep! Honk! Rumble rumble! Zoom! Do you love big machines? Then this camp is for you. Explore a variety of different art materials, while creating a clay construction zone and design your own 3D rollercoaster. Construct a rocket ship that really glows in the dark! Preschool: Ribbons and Twirls
Ages 3-5. Wrap yourself in ribbon and dance! Move your bodies with a whole lot of kid voice and choice. Bust out your favorite dance moves and twirl the day away! Build your own ribbon twirler to take home on the last day. Spanish Immersion Camp
Entering grades 1-5. ¡Vamos a jugar! Immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture! Activities include art, cooking, futbol, dance and cultural activities all taught en Español. Designed for students with a significant background in Spanish. Bring a bag lunch. Spanish Immersion Camp for New Kindergarteners
Designed for kindergarteners enrolled at Adams Spanish Immersion beginning Fall 2022. Prepare for the transition to immersion kindergarten by walking through the ins and outs of the school day and practicing Spanish through games, songs and cultural activities. The Air, the Earth, and the Environment
Entering Grades 1-5. Join Lower Phalen Creek Project for an afternoon of hands-on activities focused on native plants and all that they provide! We’ll discuss the longstanding relationships Dakota communities have with the many native plants of Mni Sota, and we’ll make our very own seed paper to take home, make art with, and plant in the soil! All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. The Air, the Earth, and the Environment (Adult + Child)

Tiny Tots
For children ages 2-4 with a parent in the water. Learn water adjustment skills and have fun in the water. If child is not potty trained, child must wear plastic pants or swim diapers in the pool. No disposable diapers allowed. Locker rooms will be available for changing out of swim attire after class. Showers will not be available. Please come prepared to swim and free of lotions, and other body and hair products. Plan to shower at home after class. Bathrooms will still be available. All Community Education participants are required to follow SPPS COVID guidelines (https://www.spps.org/safelearningplan), and all other communicated health and safety expectations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the class/program. -
