Become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding for
pools, First Aid, CPR, and AED. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory.
Students must be 15 years or older by the last day of class and be able to pass
a skills pre-test. Participants who do not pass the pre-test will be issued a
refund minus a $20 processing fee and will not be able to continue in the
course. Certification will be issued after successful completion of written
exams and skill tests; if participants do not pass the course, neither

Skills Pre-Test: Pre-test 1: Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both and demonstrate breath control and rhythmic breathing. Swimming on the back or side are not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. Pre-test 2: Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates must place their hands in their armpits. Pre-test 3: Complete a timed event within 1 minutes, 40 seconds: -Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using any stroke. Swim goggles are not allowed. -Surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, and return to the surface. -Swim to the starting point on your back with both hands holding the object and just using your legs to kick. Face should be at or near the surface. -Exit the water without using a ladder and stand up.
