At an early age she was enrolled in her great aunt's school learning ballet, tap, and jazz. From her mother she learned swing and popular dances. When the neo-swing craze of the 90's hit, she was already a dancer, and was thrilled to meet others who were passionate about dancing too. By 1997, she became a local and national dance teacher, competitor and performer. Over the years, she performed as an independent artist, a member of 3 historic dance troupes specializing in popular dances 20th century. She has danced in 2 national TV commercials, 2 music videos, and a Hollywood movie, and performed in the Fringe Festival, the Walker Art Center’s Choreographer’s Evening, Minnesota Vikings Halftime Show and with dance legends Betty Wood, Norma Miller. The highlight of her dance career was sharing the stage with The Nicholas Brothers. An active supporter of the local swing dance and music communities, she has taught Community Education dance classes since the 1990s and hosts a long-running weekly swing night featuring live music. Her focus is on the social aspect of dancing, and likes to keep it fun, inclusive, and creative, while inspiring people to find a love of dance. She welcomes all aspiring dancers, and is delighted for the opportunity to grow the community from the ground up.
