Cooking 101: Six Weeks to More Joyful, Improvisatory Cooking


Learn the basics of knife skills, pan-frying, braising, stir-frying, high-temperature roasting, pizza making, and using herbs and spices in this hands-on course. You’ll prepare and eat a meal in class each week, gain a better understanding of the equipment we use, and learn about food safety.

$57 food fee payable to the instructor. Requires standing for long periods of time. Please note dietary restrictions when registering.

Jan Zita Grover

Jan Zita Grover has taught community education cooking classes since 1986. She has taught in San Francisco, Duluth, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Woodbury, Cottage Grove, and White Bear Lake. Jan has run a commercial kitchen, catered, sold her baked goods at a farmers’ market, and enjoyed it all. Her goal is to help home cooks become more joyous, improvisational, and technically accomplished.
