It's All About the Dress: Acrylic Painting

This whimsical- Klimt-like acrylic painting starts with a very colorful underpainting. Subsequent layers add colors and texture. Step by step instruction enables beginner and experienced painters to complete a successful painting. This class has a supply list to purchase before class. List is in the confirmation email.
Supply List:
- Your usual painting supplies which should include at least 2 water containers, paper towels, pop up tissues, white and black graphite paper or Saral to transfer design, an old credit card or scraping tool.
- Brushes: A selection of flat brushes or angle brushes sizes 1 inch and smaller. Small flat brushes to paint checks. A liner brush.
- Pencil and ruler
- Black Stabilo pencil
- Black Sharpie Paint marker fine point, White Sharpie Paint marker fine point (or other types of permanent markers/paint markers)
- Optional: Water-soluble crayons like Caren D’Ache, gel pens (metallic, white and black)
- Liquitex matte medium/gesso (if you have it, otherwise you an use mine)
- Watercolor paper (11” x 20”) -prefer Stratford 500 Aquarius 80lb cold press watercolor paper
- Fluid and heavy body acrylic paints

Carol Spohn
Carol Spohn is a watercolor/mixed media artist and instructor from Saint Paul Minnesota where she lives with her husband Cozzie and two cats. Carol recently retired to be a full time artist and instructor. Carol enjoys teaching others to paint even more than she loves painting. Her step by step methods enables each student to be successful in creating art. She is a popular instructor at painting conventions and art retreats, sharing her joy of painting with students throughout the country.
Carol believes everyone has a creative spirit and her classes are a perfect opportunity to learn techniques enabling students to nurture their skills. Her philosophy is to embrace the joy and not make art so hard. Make one decision at a time and see where that leads you. Students of all levels will be successful.
