Intro to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra-s

Yoga is something deeper than doing postures, but what is it exactly? The sage Patanjali (circa 300 C.E./A.D.) illuminates the larger context of yoga practice in his seminal philosophical text. The guidelines laid out in the Sutra-s are just as helpful now as they were a few thousand years ago. Fundamentally, they offer practical and specific guidance about how to develop clarity, reduce suffering, and stay connected to our essential selves. This workshop provides an overview of some key concepts, group discussion, and a practice with breathing and movement principles described in the Sutra-s.

Anne McDonough

Anne McDonough is a yoga therapist and has taught yoga since 2006. She is certified by Healing Yoga Foundation (San Francisco), Yoga Europa (Prague, Czech Republic), and is finishing her 1008-hour yoga therapy certification with Yoga Well Institute (Mill Valley, CA). She teaches in the Viniyoga approach, emphasizing breath development and functionally adapted postures.
