Globalization and the New Immigration of the Late 20th and Early 21st Century- Online Course

Classes for Adults / Special Topics & Events -
Spring 2021 - Adult

Minnesota History Is/As American History

Discussion Topic: Why has Minnesota become the new home for hundreds of thousands of immigrants of color from southeast Asia, central America, and east Africa? How have they been received? How do their experiences parallel the experiences of earlier waves of immigrants from different parts of Europe?

An effective way to explore broad national developments and patterns is to dig deeply into a specific, local experience. Join Peter Rachleff, co-founder of St. Paul’s East Side Freedom Library, for a deep dive into local history that is intended to provoke ideas, questions, and conversations about the very meaning of American history.
