Cemetery Walking Tour

Spring 2021 - Adult

Experience the legendary Cemetery Walking Tour in three two-hour segments. Tour five cemeteries over the course of three weeks, reviewing the history of early Saint Paul and the men and women who made it happen. Please note there are no bathrooms and transportation is on your own between the multiple locations visited.

First Night: Meet at the East Gate of Calvary Cemetery, 753 Front Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55103.

Second Night: Meet at Oakland Cemetery, 927 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, MN 55117.

Third Night: Meet at Temple Mount Zion Cemetery, 1670 Payne Avenue, St Paul, MN 55117. We will visit other locations this night as well - transportation is on your own.

Please note: There may be moments when proper social distancing isn't possible on this tour, therefore participants must agree to wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouth at all times while on this walking tour to protect our instructor as well as each other.

Mary Benton Hummel

Mary-Benton Hummel, seriously over-educated with six college degrees and working on a seventh, has been teaching with Community Education since 1980. Best known for her Cemetery Walking Tour, she also offers a smorgasbord of classes in other areas such as knitting, letterpress printing, basketry, and pop-up cards. She loves to teach, sharing anything she knows on almost any subject, and enjoys watching the toads that have taken residence in one of her window wells.
