Swede Hollow: European Immigration in the 19th Century- Online Course

Classes for Adults / Special Topics & Events -
Winter 2021 - Adult

Minnesota History Is/As American History

Discussion Topic: Swede Hollow: European Immigration in the 19th Century
Immigrants from Ireland, Germany, and Sweden came to Minnesota before the Civil War. What led them to leave their homes? What drew them here?

An effective way to explore broad national developments and patterns is to dig deeply into a specific, local experience. Join Peter Rachleff, co-founder of St. Paul’s East Side Freedom Library, for a deep dive into local history that is intended to provoke ideas, questions, and conversations about the very meaning of American history.
