Mni Sota: The Land of the Dakota People - Online Course

Classes for Adults / Special Topics & Events -
Winter 2021 - Adult

Minnesota History Is/As American History

Discussion Topic: Mni Sota: The Land of the Dakota People
Before Europeans and European-descended people arrived in this region, it was home to the Dakota people. In the early 19th century, as newcomers arrived, they interacted in various ways with the indigenous people. Who were the Dakota People and how did they live?

An effective way to explore broad national developments and patterns is to dig deeply into a specific, local experience. Join Peter Rachleff, co-founder of St. Paul’s East Side Freedom Library, for a deep dive into local history that is intended to provoke ideas, questions, and conversations about the very meaning of American history.
